www.europe-seaside.com - Alicante

Part of the Costa Blanca, set on the east coast of Spain, Alicante is locked between Costa Almeria and Costa Dorada, and provides direct access to the warm Mediterranean. Having originated from a tiny fishing settlement, Alicante is now a sun-bathed high-end resort on the Mediterranean, known for its lengthy strips of sand and laid-back atmosphere. Although it receives large throngs of annual tourists, including some very high-profile personalities, the town remains a pleasant spot for a day on the beach. Boasting perfect weather for the greater part of the year, Alicante is a strolling venue: you can either venture for a long walk on the beach, head to any of the main promenades or take to the long alleys of the harbour. The historic part of town, with ample sightseeing and iconic landmarks (including several important cathedrals), is another place you can explore by walking.
