www.europe-seaside.com - Tenerife

This is the largest of the seven Canary Islands, closer to the African coast and washed by the Atlantic. With its capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, being the most populated city of the archipelago, the site enjoys a tremendous amount of tourism. Tenerife is included on many itineraries as the ultimate traveller's dream, with long stretches of unspoilt sandy beaches, scenic traditional homes, harbours with bobbing boats and lively tourist areas. The island receives an average of four million annual foreign visitors, with Spanish tourists only adding to that number. Except for overbuilt, purely touristy spots such as Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, the site, surprisingly, still hides several genuinely natural areas. The biggest hit in recent years has been Costa Adeje, literally crammed with facilities and leisure options, and world renowned for its exclusive shopping and golfing scenes. On a side note, the old-fashioned charm of Puerto de la Cruz, a tourist village set somewhat deeper into the inland, is a preferred site for a hassle-free holiday.
